Woven carpet is produced on a loom that is very similar to woven cloth, being a cut pile. There are different coloured yarns being used and the whole process is capable of producing very intricate patterns from designs that are pre-determined. Generally woven carpet is the highest quality carpet available.
TUFFTED CARPET
Tuffted carpet is produced on a tufting machine using either a singal coloured or in some cases a none coloured yarn. If none coloured yarn is being used the carpet will be dyed or printed with a design as a separate process. Tuffted carpets can be loop pile, cut pile or a combination of both. Machines can produce a lot more metres of carpet than weaving and are usually at the lower end of the market.
FLAT WEAVE CARPET
This is created by interlocking warp and weft threads. Types of oriental flat woven carpet include tapestry and plain weave and soumak. This is very popular in the oriental countries including Japan.
NEEDLE FELT CARPET
The needle felt carpet is a lot more technologically advanced. They are produced by electrostatic attraction of individual fibres that form a unique carpet which has an extreme high durability. Neelef felt carpet will normally be found in the contract market for example hotels or places where there will be a lot of traffic.
CUT AND LOOP PILE CARPET
The cut and loop pile combines both looped and cut fibres. They provide a variety of surface texture for medium durability. Cut and loop pile carpets are available in many different colours. The carpet has several different layers and can hide dirt and footprints in informal and formal areas.
SAXONY CARPET
Saxony carpet consists of tightly twisted cut pile which are heat set straight. They consist of two or more fibres that have been twisted together in a yarn and provide a very soft texture. They show each and every footprint and even vacuum cleaner marks.
TEXTURED SAXONY CARPET
Textured Saxony carpet is the best selling due to the very soft feel. They also offer multicoloured styles that will hide tracks and footprints.

VELVET CARPET
Velvet carpets are lightly twisted and offer a uniformed colour, they are very soft and this type of carpet is ideal for formal areas due to its luxurious appearance.
LEVEL LOOP PILE CARPET
This carpet style is constructed by weaving even loops of yarn into carpet backing at both ends. This type of carpet is durable and track resistant due to its strong loops. Higher loops in the carpet create a more luxurious look and will prevent dirt from filtering into the carpet.
FRIEZE CARPET
This is a highly twisted cut pile type of carpet that is suited to high traffic areas. It has short fibres that tend to curl in different directions at the surface and this can help to hide footprints and vacuum marks.
CHINESE RUGS / INDIAN RUGS
Chinese rugs and Indian rugs clean up beautifully, they come in many shapes and sizes including rectangular, circular and oval. Most rugs have fringes which need specialist cleaning in themselves. All Chinese rugs have a lovely sheen when new. However, this sheen very soon becomes dulled by everyday wear and general soiling. This sheen is fully restored when the Chinese rug / Indian rug or carpet is cleaned using our specialist cleaning systems.
Chinese rug patterns or designs are usually Peking or Aubusson in origin. Peking designs are identifiable by the Chinese looking trellis like pattern, which borders the rug, whilst Aubusson are, as the name suggest more French in origin. They will often have roses, flowers, leaves and scrolls incorporated in the pattern, and the colouration will be a little more subtle than found in the Peking designs. The rug fringes are usually made of cotton and we would suggest to all customers not to cut these fringes off but to tuck them underneath the carpet. Indian rugs are considerably less dense in pile than their Chinese counterparts and the underside of the rug has a coarser finish. Indian rugs also come in many different sizes and shapes but also clean up to a very high standard.
